About the 2026 Darien Police Department Torch Run Fundraiser
The Darien Police Department is proud to support Special Olympics Connecticut by participating in the 2026 Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run, an annual event that brings together law enforcement agencies from across the state in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Over the course of the three-day Torch Run, police departments and Department of Correction facilities throughout Connecticut will take part in a statewide relay, running through cities and towns while carrying the “Flame of Hope.” As the torch travels through communities, it serves as a powerful symbol of unity, inclusion, and support for the athletes of Special Olympics Connecticut.
By taking part in this meaningful event, the Darien Police Department is helping raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Connecticut, ensuring that athletes across the state have opportunities to train, compete, and showcase their abilities. The Torch Run also highlights the strong partnership between law enforcement and the communities they serve, as officers come together to champion a cause that celebrates determination, teamwork, and the spirit of sport.
With your donation, you are providing athletes the opportunity to participate in fitness and sports competitions, provide medals, and promote healthy lifestyle initiatives! Special Olympics Connecticut provides opportunities to nearly 14,000 athletes and Unified Sports® partners to train and compete in 26 Olympic-type sports and participate in four annual state games.
