About 31st Annual Hotchkiss Swimathon

We are excited to announce that we will do the Swimathon in two parts this year—once on Westnesday, September 10, in beautiful Lake Wononscopomuc for experienced long-distance swimmers, and then again on Sunday, November 2 in glorious Hixon Pool for all members of our community.

Since 2022, the Hotchkiss Swimathon has supported the Dream Day Center in Bratislava, Slovakia, a school for Ukrainian refugees forced from their home country by Russia’s attack on Ukraine three and a half years ago. Last year, we were honored to have four Slovakian Special Olympics athletes and four Slovakian coaches join us for the lake swim and we continue to make the Dream Day Center a major focal point for our school and our Special Olympics Club.

Last year, we were thrilled to welcome over a dozen students from Choate Rosemary Hall to be partners with us in the Swimathon and we look forward to helping them expand their footprint in Special Olympics Connecticut. We raised over $37,000 in a special anniversary year, marking three decades of support for Special Olympics.

Hotchkiss has continued to host a Founders League swim meet each winter that includes Special Olympics Connecticut athletes, and we have now sponsored Special Olympics golf, track and field, and basketball events on campus.

This year, as we have for the last few years, we will host a barbecue for as many members of the Hotchkiss community as we can feed at the beachfront on Swimathon Saturday, September 6, beginning at 3:30 p.m. If you are anywhere near Lakeville on that afternoon, please come join us!
